Eco-Counselling Australia Pacific (ECAP) was established in early 2010 to facilitate the use of the EcoMapping® and EMAS Easy™ tools in the Asia-Pacific region.

The EcoMapping® tool is a practical starter kit to environmental management for small to medium enterprises (SMEs). The EMAS Easy™ tool simplifies the process for achieving the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).

The EcoMapping® and EMAS Easy™ tools also simplify the achievement of the internationally recognised standard ISO14001 or industry certification, including Entwine, Freshcare, Sustainable Green Print and Green Globe.

ECAP trains consultants in the use of EcoMapping® and EMAS Easy™ and, in turn, these consultants work with businesses and associations to achieve the desired environmental standard.

Belgian-based environmental protection specialist Heinz Werner Engel developed the EcoMapping® and EMAS Easy™ tools, and owns the intellectual property.

ECAP provides the only recognition system acknowledged by Engel, who is a director of ECAP along with Andy Chambers and Richard Furler of Green Ochre. 

Industry associations can use the tools with industry specific ‘add-ons’ to develop a certification standard and/or create the pathway to their own industry standard.
